This game is just as much fun as New Super Mario Bros. DS.
Graphically, it's very pretty; bright, bold, beautiful colours are the order of the day!
My only complaint (thus far) lies in being forced to use the Wiimote, as motion-control plays a fairly significant part in the game. Frankly, I find it annoying because the Wiimote, as used in this style of game, is really too small and the D-pad hurts my thumb.

So you can't use the classic control? Also do you need motion plus?

The motion controls are just for tilting crap

Why would you need motion plus?

Does it have they gay shuffle before you start running, like on the DS version? That alone made it unplayable for me.

Nope, you also use them to pick up objects. (F*** knows why...)

Perhaps, when I said "forced to use the Wiimote", I was not clear enough. Let me attempt to resolve your confusion: you are forced to use the Wiimote.

And, no, Motion+ is not used.

I find the Wii Remote awkward for platformers as well, with games like Super Mario Bothers(NES) I still plug in the classic controller. Ideally i wanted this game to have old school game play but with some new school graphics and sound.

Can somebody tell me if he still shuffles before running? Or does he run at the get go like he used to?

That's exactly how I feel about it!

He just runs. And I can't say I've ever noticed any "shuffling" in NSMB DS.

  • Silence
    Silence (19,773) 05/11/2009

So he always runs at a constant speed? If so, good.

What I meant by 'shuffling' is that when he starts to run, instead of running straight away, he'll run on the spot a bit before actually moving.

And that ruined the game for you??? Oh well, I suppose we each have our little idiosyncrasies.

I suppose. I just felt that it made the movement feel somewhat laggy and inaccurate.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It was annoying. Got used to it but was annoying. Doesn't make it unplayble, though.

There is now officially 5 days until the release of the highly anticipated 2d platforming return of Nintendo's fat yet somehow athletic plumber Mario in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. The game will bring back the mario series to its strong roots while adding a fresh spin of multiplayer into the mix.

Most sane people are very excited for this title to be released but just in case you aren't I will be compiling a stupid and unfunny reason to buy the game each day until its eventual release in Australia. So without further stalling your -Zero anticipation for this crappy countdown here's today reason:

    ==================================================================

    9. Waggle your Wii to control certain aspects of the dirty plumbers and toads.
