Anyone have a good simple guide as to how to set this thing up?
Everything on the net assumes you know how these things are supposed to be set up? My computer has stopped even recognising the gecko when the USB goes in!!

You get the drivers on a disk but even the usb gecko website simply lists a bunch of software but no simple guide!! Hoping someone can help before I throw this out the window!!

Yeah great help you guys are today!!!

What is it your having problems with exactly? You say "My computer has stopped even recognising the gecko when the USB goes in" so does that mean it was recognising it before?

Umm yeah like I said what is your problem? Is that you cant get Windows to install it, or are you having trouble actually using it?

ok. I cannot get the page up that says "Waiting for PC" to come up. I am guessing that once I have the drivers on, when I connect the usb up to the PC somehow it is meant to recognize that the gecko Wii is connected but it doesn't . So any guide as to what might be wrong would be helpful.

man i have the same problems, everything on the net assumes you know the basics
But with a lot of frustration trying to figure it out myself, what you need to do is download gecko loader iso and the from the usb gecko website, burn it to a disc, load it on your wii, then have your wii wired to your tv connected via the usb gecko, open gecko tool on your pc and click >firm ware>upload firmware, and select the .Gek file (download from the USBGecko website), it will then install the firmware onto the usb gecko or something.
once that is done burn the gecko 0.42 iso on to a dvd and load it on the wii, open gecko tool and the rest, (i really can't figure it out myself)

Sorry if Iv'e been unclar but i really don't know how to use it myself, that's just what ive managed to figure out myself. its very confusing.

    USB Gecko Card
    From OzModChips Wiki

There is a manual on the software CD that has instructions.

    USB Geckos official website

    [edit] Quick Guide

    1. Install drivers on your PC (sound on Software CD)
    2. Burn a copy of the 'launcher' - USB Gecko Firmware Vx.x.x (Zip file contain x.x.x Tool, Dol, ISO), it should be 1.4gb, so burn it on a DVD of course. (PAL verison, or NTSC if you have a moddchip with region override) - click here to download
    3. Open up gecko-tools on your PC (make sure the gecko is already connected to the PC)
    4. Stick the USB gecko in SLOT- B, not slot-A!
    5. Turn on your wii and load the launcher. It should appear as a gamecube game if using on a Wii. Click Start. The program should say 'Waiting for Command From PC'
    6. Eject the disc from your Wii, and then insert the disc you want to backup.
    7. On your PC, in gecko tools click 'Extract DVD'...

    $64.50

Considering you can't even find the price of the USB gecko, i'm assuming it will be too complex for you to use.

    Hello Oz Modchips.

Im interested in buying USB Gecko. But I heard in forums that the "Launcher/Loader" software you need to insert into your Wii first, cant be found anywhere on the net to download. The main USB Gecko website is no longer up and running.

Where else can I download Launcher to use USB Gecko? Cant buy it without that software.

At one stage the USB loader was a useful piece of kit but now it mainly used as a cheat device with the Gecko Channel. With it you can create your own cheat codes!

Don't use Gecko Loader. use uLoader 3.1. It will boot both PAL and NTSC, Alt. Dol features and you can use the Wii to back up existing games. It always works and I have never had a problem with it.
